Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information PayPause collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
Last updated: 30 June 2026
PayPause helps users pause before making payments by recording spending intent, category, budget context, and related expense information.
Important: PayPause is not a bank, wallet, payment processor, lender, or financial advisor. It does not move money, hold money, process UPI payments, or collect UPI PINs. Payments are completed in third-party UPI apps selected by the user.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use PayPause, the app may collect the following information:
- Account information: When you sign in, PayPause may receive your account user ID, name, and email address associated with your sign-in provider.
- Expense information: Amount, category, date and time, optional note, and other information you choose to enter.
- Budget information: Category budgets, remaining budget values, and budget status.
- UPI app preference: Your selected default UPI app name or package where supported, so PayPause can improve the payment handoff experience.
- Device and diagnostic information: Basic app logs, error information, API request logs, and technical data needed to operate, secure, and improve the app.
2. Guest mode
If you use PayPause as a guest, your data is intended to remain on your device using local storage. Guest data may not be synchronised to the PayPause backend. If you delete the app or clear app storage, guest data may be lost.
3. Logged-in mode
If you sign in, your expense, budget, and preference data may be stored locally on your device and synchronised to the PayPause backend so your account can be restored and accessed securely.
4. How we use information
PayPause uses your information to:
- Provide the PayPause app and its core features.
- Show expense history, budgets, warnings, and spending insights.
- Authenticate users and protect accounts.
- Synchronise data between your device and the PayPause backend when you are logged in.
- Debug, secure, and improve app reliability.
- Comply with legal, security, and platform requirements.
5. UPI and payment information
PayPause may open third-party UPI apps using a UPI intent or deep link. It does not collect your UPI PIN, bank password, card details, bank account number, or payment-app login credentials. Payment authorisation happens inside the UPI app you choose and is governed by that app’s terms and privacy policy.
6. Sharing of information
PayPause does not sell your personal data. Limited information may be shared with service providers that help operate the app, including authentication services, hosting providers, backend infrastructure, database providers, and analytics or crash tools if enabled. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or to protect users, PayPause systems, or the public.
7. Data retention
Account and app data is kept for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce the terms. If you delete your account, associated account data will be deleted or anonymised unless retention is required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or compliance reasons.
8. Account and data deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated data from within the app or through the Account and Data Deletion page. Once completed, PayPause deletes data associated with your authenticated account from its backend and deletes your authentication account where applicable.
9. Security
PayPause uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. However, no system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and sign-in account secure.
10. Children’s privacy
PayPause is not intended for children under 13 years of age and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact the PayPause team if you believe a child has provided information so appropriate action can be taken.
11. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
